TRAFFIC & TRAVEL ADVISORY:
 
Affecting all approach roads to Athlone, including the N6 bypass.
 
Junction 12  (N6)
> Gathering from 8 am along the N61 Roscommon Road along the hard shoulder. 
> 1^st tractors to be allowed onto the bypass from 10:15 am 
> Use of hard shoulder and first lane. Overtaking lane to be left open at all times. 
> No tractor is allowed in the overtaking lane at any time. 
> Tractors approaching from westbound lane, come off at exit 12 and proceed to the bypass to travel eastbound. 
> If there is a backlog, provision can be made to put up to 200 tractors into a nearby compound and proceed to the bypass from there (less than 100m).  
 
Junction 10 (N6)
> Exit bypass at Junction 10 and turn left for Cornamaddy (N55). 
> turn right at Cornamaddy roundabout and head down the R916 to Garrycastle/ TUS. 
> 1^st tractors to be reaching Junction 10 at 11:30 am or earlier. 
 
Walkers  
> Congregate at Garrycastle at 12:30 pm for the short walk and to be in TUS by 1:30 pm for speeches from farming bodies and politicians.  
> 2 rows of stewards in hi-vis jackets needed between pedestrians and any vehicle.  
> No walkers allowed on the bypass or slipways at any time. 
 
Departing Athlone at 3:30-4 pm at the latest. Some may not wait for all the speeches and leave earlier.
 
Other information which may be of relevance to road users, attendees, emergency services and transport providers:
 
Parking 
> Cars will park at TUS, WPFC, Garrycastle, Cornamaddy, Blyry and Dan’s Tavern. Drivers are encouraged to arrive early. 
> Tractors will be parked in fields adjacent to TUS. Contingency parking, if required, will be provided at Creggan and Lissywollen. A road sweeper will be provided after the event to clean the roads, if necessary. 
> Trucks will be diverted towards industrial parks.  
> Buses will enter TUS via the front gate, disembark people at the designated set-down area before moving the buses off-site. Buses are encouraged to arrive early.  
> Pedestrians will walk to Garrycastle along the footpaths for the pedestrian march. Other pedestrians may access this location from the Greenway. 
> Others may arrive in Athlone by train/bus and use the local transport providers to reach TUS. 
 
Stewards 
> Not required at any of the junctions. 
> Stewards are only required at parking areas. 
> Radios and hi-vis vests will be provided to each team of stewards. To be collected at 8 am on Saturday from TUS.  
> Members of the farming associations from Westmeath, Roscommon, Longford and Galway are providing stewards. 
> The Order of Malta will be present.
