Post Title: Business Development Manager with HR
Hours of Work: Flexible
Responsible To: General Manager
As Business Development Manager, you will work closely with the centre team to develop and identify new opportunities within our 26-acre facility, delivering exceptional customer experience whilst driving new business opportunities and enhancing existing services both within the centre and outside in our newly developed Fitness Park.
The ideal candidate will champion our community ethos whilst delivering member growth, member satisfaction and censuring commercial and financial targets are consistently achieved
1. Business Growth & Revenue Generation
• Grow existing membership base
• Driving improved member retention through member loyalty programmes, member events and successful member journey processes.
• Cultivate a positive, friendly environment, resolve member issues, and build strong relationships.
• and driving new business opportunities, with the ability to monitor performance and ensure commercial and financial targets are consistently achieved.
• Exploring commercial opportunities both inside and particularly outside through branding, sponsorship and events, working closely with the marketing team to develop campaigns that promote new and existing services.
• Research industry trends, competitor activity, and new market opportunities for expansion.
• Lead the development of unique offerings to set the facility apart — e.g., fitness events, corporate team-building, specialised workshops.
• To ensure the development and delivery of high-quality programmes that are fit for purpose and contribute measurable value.
• To monitor and evaluate the quality of service provision and the impact of programmes to assess performance, value for money and customer satisfaction.

• Community Hub – overseeing the coordinator to ensure sustainable programmes and events and being the Link to Westmeath Sports Partnership
• Community Groups – building collaboration with local groups, schools, and organisations.
• A confident and professional approach to relationship management, capable of fostering and sustaining long-term partnerships with clients, corporate organisations, clubs, governing bodies, mapping out all stakeholders.
• Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build new relationships from the ground up and effectively communicate the unique community value of Athlone RSC
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and deal promptly with customer feedback/complaints.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all users.
3. People Management
• Overseeing Duty manager for Gym operations to ensure facility is managed to its optimum
• Lead on HR working with HR Consultant & HR Admin to ensure compliance and best practice is maintained
• Oversee Staff Training and development plan and co lead on appraisal system
• Managing employee satisfaction, assistance, and comms.
4.Procedures & Finance
• Ensure full compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and employment legislation.
• Ensure Gym Department & external facility procedures are to ISO standard
• Along with Operations & Duty Manager for Gym, ensuring all gym and external facilities have thorough maintenance programme
• Monitor performance against key metrics (KPIs), manage budgets, and drive revenue.
The successful candidate will report directly to the General Manager, providing regular updates on pipeline activity and emerging opportunities. They will work closely with the on-site management team to ensure alignment between the centre’s community programmes, and commercial growth ambitions
To work flexibly in line with the needs of the business at peak flow times, including evenings and weekends.
